Women’s Occupational Readiness and Knowledge Program
Transitioning back into employment can be challenging, but our Employment Mentors are
here to support you with achieving your career goals.
Advancing Women & Girls
The Interior Women’s Centre Society (IWCS) is on a mission to enrich the lives of women and girls in our community by advancing economic security, leadership, and equitable opportunities across British Columbia’s Interior. We support women through employment readiness, mentorship, financial literacy, skills development, career navigation, and advocacy, while working to address the systemic barriers that limit women’s participation and advancement in the workforce.
Our advocacy focuses on:
Fair and equal wages to help reduce the gender wage gap and improve women’s economic security.
Equal opportunity and safe workplaces for women in male-dominated sectors, including Trades, Sports, and STEM.
Advancing women into politics and decision-making roles by working with municipal, provincial, and federal governments to increase women’s representation in leadership and public life.
Through research, community collaboration, leadership development, and systems advocacy, IWCS is not only helping women access employment—it is helping create the conditions for women and girls to thrive as leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and change-makers.

Our Social Enterprise
The Interior Women’s Centre Society is proud to operate a storefront, where every purchase directly supports women in our community. All proceeds raised go back into our WORK Program, sustaining free financial literacy education and employment support for women.
What began at the Kamloops Farmers’ Market has now grown into a storefront initiative, with plans to expand online, and at the new Kamloops Women’s Centre. This space not only raises funds but also creates meaningful opportunities for women. Through internships, women with little to no employment experience can build skills for their resumes or rediscover purpose through work and volunteering.
Internships include hands-on learning in product creation, marketing, leadership development, financial management, budgeting, inventory management and customer service. Each season, we welcome 2–3 women into this program, walking alongside them as they build confidence, gain experience, and prepare for future employment.
By supporting this space, whether through purchasing our handmade goods (including our much-loved chickens!) or contributing as a partner, you are directly helping women rebuild their futures while strengthening our community.
