What Does an Employment Coach Do?

At the Interior Women’s Centre Society, our Employment Coach walks alongside women as they navigate the path to meaningful work and financial independence. An Employment Coach is here to:

  • Work one-on-one to strengthen resumes, craft cover letters, and practice interview skills.

  • Explore job opportunities that match each woman’s unique skills, experience, and goals.

  • Create a safe space to talk about money through Financial Literacy Table Talks.

  • Support access to resources like our Free Tax Clinic, run in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency.

  • Connect women with advocates to help set up bank accounts, obtain ID, clear records, and reduce barriers to employment.

  • Offer mentorship and design individualized employment plans, with opportunities to gain experience through our Social Impact Business internship program.

An Employment Coach is more than a guide; they are a mentor, an advocate, and a partner in helping women rebuild confidence, grow skills, and step into new opportunities.

Our Social Impact Business

The Interior Women’s Centre Society is proud to operate a social impact storefront, where every donation directly supports women in our community. All proceeds raised go back into our WORK Program, sustaining free financial literacy education and employment support for women.

What began at the Kamloops Farmers’ Market has now grown into a storefront initiative, with plans to expand online. This space not only raises funds but also creates meaningful opportunities for women. Through internships, women with little to no employment experience can build skills for their resumes or rediscover purpose through work and volunteering.

Internships include hands-on learning in product creation, marketing, leadership development, financial management, budgeting, inventory management and customer service. Each season, we welcome 2–3 women into this program, walking alongside them as they build confidence, gain experience, and prepare for future employment.

By supporting this space, whether through purchasing our handmade goods (including our much-loved chickens!) or contributing as a partner, you are directly helping women rebuild their futures while strengthening our community.
